Historic Allison-Deaver House RFP

The Transylvania County Historical Society (TCHS), in partnership with the Transylvania County Planning and Community Development Office and Joint Historic Preservation Commission, has received a federal pass-through Certified Local Government (CLG) Grant from the State Historic Preservation Office of the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources. These grant funds, together with local matching funds, will allow for critical repair/restoration work to be undertaken on the historic Allison-Deaver House.

Through this Request for Proposals (RFP), TCHS is soliciting proposals to select a contractor with demonstrated experience in historic preservation and architectural conservation, specifically concerning wood roofing and historic wood windows.

The Allison-Deaver House is owned by the TCHS who seeks a qualified contractor to: 

  1. Install a new wood shingle roof on the west side.

  2. Restore five (5) windows and frames at the 2nd floor.

  3. Replace two (2) sets of window sash and window sills in the 3rd floor attic.

  4. Remove and reinstall/replace wood siding and trim on the 2nd floor west wall.

  5. Install thermal insulation and moisture barrier in the 2nd floor west wall cavity.

  6. Repair decayed structural framing connection at 2nd floor, west wall.
