Mark Burrows, Planning and Community Development Director, was hired by the County in 1990 as the County’s first planning director. He has served on a number of local and regional boards including the Chamber of Commerce, Heart of Brevard, TC Arts, Land-of-Sky Regional Council, the Regional Planning Organization (transportation), AdvantageWest Regional Council, the Asheville Regional Housing Consortium, and the Western NC Biotechnology Advisory Committee.
Joy Fields, County Planner, is new to the County. While her efforts are mostly focused on the 2025 Comprehensive Plan, she also advocates for the County by serving on the Joint Historical Preservation Committee and the Transportation Committee, as well as participating with the Land-of-Sky Regional Council and the Regional Housing Consortium.
